June 9, 2011 I was invited by my boy T-Rexxx to guest DJ on MuchMusic Rap City ; showcasing one of my other talents. As I’m known as “The Voice of the Vibe”, I’m sure a lot of people were surprised and thought to themselves “Man…he DJ’s too?!” Admittedly, it was a great feeling to be back on the one’s and two’s; revisiting my foundation.
The appearance was also a perfect opportunity to tell the world about another venture I am pursuing. A KidKut signature microphone line called Voice, is currently in the works. It is a collaboration between myself, Dextrous and DJ Depot and is set to release in 2012! Thanks to my Fam that came out to support and those of you that watched from home. Thanks to everyone that tuned in to Rap City on MuchMusic June 9 where I made a return to the turntables as special guest DJ. Shout outs to the fam who cam to support (Darling Nicky, Second Wind Entertainment) and if you missed the BIG announcement I made on air – it’s true – I’ll be coming out with my own signature line of microphones at the end of the year.
Isn’t technology GRAND!! We’ve evolved from toting crates of records to books of cds, and then to simply rolling with you’re Mac and a portable hard drive. As your need for an entourage begins to diminish, and you begin to think things just can’t get any better, a concept created by Psychic Factory aims to further enhance the the dj-ing inexperience. The concept dj station uses a standard setup for a single unit with a large dock in the center for the flat-screened ipad. The unit will come with scratchpads, cross fader and all the regular buttons and knobs; however, the ipad adds a whole new dimension of interactivity. Songs can be fiddled with to an even greater degree or the dj can add their own music on top using a keyboard or instrument setup. Although it is just a concept, this kind of device will no doubt soon be a reality….Stay tuned!
