Rocket+Jet+Wheels=Awesome
July 25th, 2010Pushing your ride to 210 MPH can get your in some serious trouble, imagine what 1000 MPH would get you? Although it hasn’t quite been tested, the Bloodhound SSC, is anticipated to reach 1000 MPH. The full mock up was displayed at the Farnborough International Air show near London last week. This beast is the insane brainchild of team leader Richard Noble and some ridiculously smart people from the Swansea University, MathWorks, and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. The designed is a 42-foot-long vehicle that weighs 14,158 pounds fully fueled and rides on titanium wheels almost 3 feet in diameter. When it’s finally built it will be powered by a jet engine bolted to a rocket, that should reach velocity in 42 seconds..fast enough for you?!?
